I received some great feedback that it would be helpful to extend the due date for weekly assignments to later in the day on Friday so that you all can use the Friday morning time that some of you had set aside for the class initially to do the work. I think this is a great suggestion andHope it will help you to engage with the work. Moving forward we will have the do date and time for all assignments to be Fridays at 11:59 PM so I will give you the entire day on Friday to finish up the prior week’s assignments while those of you who are done early can start with the upcoming week.
Also a note about the discussion forum. Because of the nature of online discussion and online communities, and the content of the course we will be experimenting with some different ways of discussing online. So each week we might do something a little differently or we might use a different tool and these are all designed to give you an opportunity to see and experience different tools or methods of discussion for yourself and to inform your own practice of online teaching. For now, I will be keeping you in the small groups that I put you in this week, so please also feel free within that group to experiment with other ways of conversing if the Teams site is not working for you. My goal for your discussion is for you to have a rich conversation with your group mates about the content and your experience as you think about developing your courses, so if it’s easier to have that conversation in a different forum or mode that is fine with me. I will suggest that you try to do it digitally and not meeting face-to-face if possible because the goal of this is for you to get experience with holding conversations in a digital space rather than simply having a face-to-face discussion.
